As I sat in the barbershop today waiting 4th in line for a haircut, the place went quiet as on the television President Donald Trump addressed the annual gathering of the March for Life in Washington, D.C.  The theme this year is “Love Saves Lives.”  The significance of him being the 45th president and first ever to address from the White House the March for Life on their 45th gathering is not lost on many of us. Long have those of us who believe in Life waited for someone to be able to capture the national stage and speak on behalf of Life and the God of unborn Life. In the tiny space of the barber shop, my eyes welled up with tears as many of us believe that Life is directly tied to Liberty and Blessing. It was the fulfillment of decades of fasting and prayer for God’s blessing upon our nation, as we waited for a prophetic voice to be lifted up that would answer our heartfelt longings.

President Trump began his speech by commending those gathered for desiring to “build a society where Life is celebrated, protected and cherished. The March for Life is a movement born out of love. You love your families; you love your neighbors; you love our nation and you love every child born and unborn because you believe that every life is sacred, that every child is a precious gift from God.” How this falls in line with the God of Scriptures! Another national leader, King Solomon wrote, “Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). For those of us fasting and praying for our nation, today unfolded with an unrighteous abuse of Liberty being addressed–an abuse that has stood as an obstacle to God’s blessings.

The global ideologies that have historically desired most to conquer our American and Creator-endowed “unalienable rights” of ” Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” are all cultures of death.  Whether it would be the Marxist cultures that killed their own citizens or the radical Islamic terrorism perpetrated on American soil, we have seen that among mankind there has been and always will be a choice.  It’s so simple–a cultural and societal choice between Life and death. The injunction to the children of Israel is as simple a choice today as it was over 3400 years ago. “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it…I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants” (Deuteronomy 30:15-16,19).

So simple is the choice for the nation that wants the promised blessings given to the Israelites! This same God of Life is the one and only God, the One revealed to the nation of Israel as Jehovah.  Here is the promise, “Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance” (Psalm 33:12). Can we see that any nation that desires to follow the ways of Jehovah can inherit His blessings? Jehovah God is the God of Life.

Today, our 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer might be more significant and momentous an hour than during our entire time.  Starting at 5:00 this evening until 5:00 tomorrow evening we are opening up our youth and prayer house to everyone who would like to come.  It will be an unstructured time and very conducive to private prayer, worship and Scripture reading.  Would you consider joining us for an hour to pray for Life, Revival, and Spiritual Awakening for our church, our Valley and for America? But even if you can’t make it to the church today or tomorrow, can you join me in prayer that our nation will be a nation that chooses Life and Blessing over death and cursing?

I’m continuing to pray for all of you who receive this blog.

Great blessings on you,

Jim
