In light of the recent events of America officially declaring Jerusalem to be the capitol of Israel, now is an important time to pray for this great city. Israel bore a shame that no other nation on the earth bore.  It had a capitol city that all the other nations of the earth refused to officially recognize. Finally, Donald Trump made the courageous move to recognize Israel’s ancient capitol and restored King David’s right and passion back to Israel in front of all the nations of the earth. We know that because of God’s intentions for this great city, it will be a burden to those who recognize her. There are forces on this earth that refuse and reject everything that God wants to perform. But even though it might be a burden, there is a promise of even greater blessings on all those who defend and love her.

On Saturday, I woke up with the Scripture on my heart to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.  The prayer has been strongly on my mind since.  It’s as if the words of Psalm 136 were chiseled on my heart, “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, May my right hand forget her skill. May my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, If I do not remember you, If I do not exalt Jerusalem Above my chief joy. (Psalm 137:5-6). Jerusalem is blessed of the Lord and we owe a great deal to the City of the Great King.

Psalm 122 teaches us how to pray:  “I Was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” Our feet are standing Within your gates, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that is built As a city that is compact together; To which the tribes go up, even the tribes of the LORD– An ordinance for Israel– To give thanks to the name of the LORD. For there thrones were set for judgment, The thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you.”May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within your palaces. For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, “May peace be within you. For the sake of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good. (Psalm 122:1-9)

Let’s come into agreement in prayer and ask God to bless Jerusalem and to bless all the nations who love her.  Let’s pray that God will give peace, protection and prosperity to Jerusalem.  Let’s pray that the message of the Savior who died in this place would resonate throughout all her streets.  Let’s pray that our nation will always seek the welfare of Jerusalem in all its laws, treaties, agreements and dealings with Israel. Let’s pray that there will be much joy and great songs in Jerusalem of all that the Lord has done for them.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and fasting during these first days of the year.  I know the Lord will reward you.  It is a blessing to know that as we agree on earth in prayer that God can even set the course of cities and nations.  It’s no small thing we’re doing right now and I want to thank you for your love for the Lord and dedication to Him.

I’m praying for you today.
